At the end of May we decided to go to Ticino to Valle Maggia. We haven’t been there before and the weather is always good in Ticino. One of our friends Florin joined us and we drove together from Zurich.
After looking for several places to sleep we decided to go for a hut close to Bosco Gurin called Capanna Grossalp. The hut is quite famous since around it there are a few ski slopes and is very demanded in winter.
Arrived to the small old village we followed the path to the hut. It was around 40 minutes to 1 hour by foot. We took a lot of photos as the vegetation was very beautiful. Everything was green and fresh. There were several types of flowers, some nice waterfalls on the river and the green trees around.
Arrived at the hut there was still snow around it. We went for a walk on top of the hut and there were many fields of crocus. The view from there was amazing. We enjoyed the silence in the area as we were the only ones there. There were some small stone huts in the area. Some of them belonged to the hut and could be rented separately.
In the hut we were almost the only guests (another Swiss couple) and our friends from Germany Bogdan and Delia announced they will join us in the evening. There was a Macedonian guy who took care of the hut. He told us the hut just opened recently for the summer season that’s why there were not so many guests announced.
Once our friends were close to the village I descended together with Florin and were down very fast as we were running. On our way we even met some deers. It was nice to meet our frends again and do to hike again. In the evening the guy cooked for us and the food was really tasty. We also enjoyed some Romanian Tiuca and some Grappa at the end.
In the morning we all woke up very early to catch the first rays of sun. We forgot to tell this to the guy who took care of the hut. After a few minutes he was up and very scared by the noise. But as he saw us all taking photos he went back to sleep. After the photo session we ate some fruits on the terasse and had breakfast.
Then we started the hike to the Cevio village. It was a beautiful sunny day again. We’ve seen many stone houses very common in the region, had some fun in snow, saw a lot of wild flowers and butterflies. On the hike there were also some areas wih big stones and even had to climb a bit.
The hike took aroun 3-4 hours. We also made a lot of stops to take some photos. Arrived in the village we took the care that we brought the evening before and retuned to Bosco Gurin to take the other cars. Then we continue to some other areas of Ticino …
